The Possibilities of what a New Year can bring

Aren't you happy that 2021 is here?

We hope you had a great New Year's eve, day and weekend.

There is much to celebrate as we ring in this new year. A new president, a new start, a new way and the hope that this new year will bring us more luck. But as quick as many have said goodbye to 2020, I can't help but think about th change it brought. Now you may disagree, but hear me out for a moment.

When change comes about, there are 2 roads my brain goes down. I have the choice to choose whichever one suits my mentality best. They are...

Change = a fresh start and

Change = a lesson learned

If 2020 brought about change, which did it do for you? For me, I can say it did both. So let's visit each.

A FRESH START

When I rang in the new year, it didn't quite have that same feeling that I was hoping for from years prior. You know the feeling, out with old and in with the new. This New Year's felt the same. Not quite a fresh start but a reminder. A reminder to focus on the things that are important for me and that fill my soul. Do you know what I mean?

I saw Disney's new movie soul, and in the movie the character goes on a search for the meaning of his life. Ringing in 2021 was the reminder, to do that which is important to me and this is the year that I am going to start saying YES to myself.

A LESSON LEARNED

My brain took the insanity of the year and decided to NOT take the "Why is this happening to me" approach and go the "Let's see if I can find the lesson hidden within" route.

The lesson I learned was this... "Nothing is as important as this moment right here!"

It was profound to me since I live so much in the future. I'm the guy that is always thinking and 10 steps ahead of the conversation around me. If you've ever had a lesson or conversation with me, then you would know what I'm talking about. If you've ever seen the "he's not quite here" look I get in my eyes, it's because I'm not. I'm in the future where things could be amazing.

2020 taught me stay in this moment. Stay in the present and soak up every feeling and piece of knowledge in front of you. Take the photograph with your mind's eye and cherish in the moment, because as this year taught us, you never quite know when it will be the last time you do. And as much as we WISH we had it back, it won't. It's gone. Forever.

As much as we may hate 2020, let's see if there is anything we can find that either taught a lesson that will positively impact us moving forward. If you'd rather look at it in the rearview mirror, then let's use it as the foundation 2021 is built upon. You'll most likely have more love in your heart if you do. That love will spread to those around you and ultimately, it's exactly what our world needs. 🌎

Cheers! 🥂
