The Attention we give

My pal Tony Robbins has this saying and I thought I'd share it with you.
Energy flows where attention goes
When I first heard this, I thought, if I only focus on one thing I can become a success at it. But then I quickly realized that it's not about success int he traditional sense. It's about the success of everything. The success of my relationships, my conversations, the way I drive my car or take a walk. Successes are everywhere.
What we put our attention on is important. Attention means that there can only be one. One thing to do, one thing to see, one thing to hear. It can't be two. Studies show that multitasking is not even a thing. We can't multitask because to do a "multi" means that I split my time between two.
I split my time because I only have one TIME and everything underneath that becomes split as a result of it. I have one time, I focus on one thing. Guess where 100% of that attention goes? To one thing. I focus on two things and now my attention is split 50/50 between those two things. Get it?
When we put our attention on that one thing, it flourishes. Think about it.
Someone looks at you while you have a conversation and then within minutes checks their phone because it pinged. How do you feel? Do you feel like you have lost their attention? Do you all of a sudden feel less important? Do you feel unworthy of their time?
So here's one solution.

The next time you go for a walk today, have lunch with a friend, chat with a loved one on the phone...
DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE!
Put your phone away (unless you're speaking on the phone). Look at the person. Give them you undivided attention. Be in the moment and just pay ATTENTION to the things that are happening right in front of you.
Notice the weather brush against your skin or the air you breathe enter your lungs. Notice their smile when they tell you something funny or their expression when they say what's important to them.
You'll see a difference in your experience of the activity.
And then send me a message on Instagram
Cheers,
